Yobo,inexplicably dropped from the team by head coach,Stephen Keshi despite being Nigeria's most consistent defender in Europe
, according to a release by Eagles media officer,Ben Muyiwa Alaiya called from Turkey immediately after the match to congratulate his teammates for the outstanding game against Malawi, declaring that he was praying for the team and was actually with them in spirit.
''I am excited that we have qualified for the last round and have also called Ahmed Musa to commiserate with him over what some hoodlums did by kidnapping his mother. I am also using this opportunity to condole with the team Media Officer, Ben Alaiya over the death of his father last Tuesday”, Yobo said on phone.
Meanwhile,Fenerbahce organised a surprise birthday bash for Yobo on Saturday to mark his 33rd birthday.
Yobo (Born September 6), who is returning to training after he was sidelined by injury for three weeks, had a joint birthday bash alongside Emre and Topuz courtesy the team and was joined in the celebrations by players as well as the officials. The three celebrants cut the cake together.
Yobo thank the top Turkish team for the event. "I was surprised about the party, I thank the team as a whole for putting the party together for me and my friends who are having our birthday at same period," Yobo said. Yobo trained separately and could be available for next league match away to Kasimpasa on Monday, September 16.
